Day 7

Well, it's been a week! Everything still hurts, but I'm getting used to it. No wax for the last three days, except at night. Doesn't really bother me all that much now. Just want the teeth to stop aching so I can eat more food!

B is gearing up for some busy times ahead! He's starting paramedic clinicals next month, so working 3-4 nights a week, and clinicals 2 days a week... all 12 hour shifts! He'll be getting 2 Saturdays off a month, basically. Was hoping to get wedding registry stuff done before all that, but that's not happening now. Oh well, no biggie! We're going to meet the photographer/videographer tomorrow night!

Day 5

Over the last five days, I've been in pretty constant pain. My teeth ache, and any touch is excruciating. I'm hoping that means that the teeth are moving quickly...

Haven't been able to eat much of anything. My diet so far:
  • Oatmeal for breakfast
  • Cereal (multi-grain cheerios) soaked in milk
  • V-8 Fusion to get my fruits and veggies in
  • Milk
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Canned pears
  • Soft bread
I can chew a very little bit on my last molars and wisdom teeth on my left side (top right wisdom tooth is impacted, so chewing on that side is awkward).

This is my tooth situation so far: I had three teeth pulled: first bicuspids on top left and right and then second incisor on bottom right (which means I'll have three incisors on the bottom). I have severe crowding on the top and bottom front, as well as a very deep overbite. My bottom left canine sticks out quite a bit, and had been the cause of many a bitten lip over the years. I worked with children during my college years, and was often told, "Your vampire teeth are so cool!" Yeah... cool....

Currently I only have my top brackets on. They are clear, with clear ligatures. While you would think that only my top teeth would be hurting, my first incisor and canine on the bottom left are also in pretty bad pain due to the extra space from the missing incisor... there's room now, so the crowded teeth are pushing themselves. The second incisors on both left and right top aren't even wired yet, as they have "no where to go" according to my Ortho, Dr. H.

I go to get my bottom brackets on October 12th. I imagine they will give me some sort of bite plate to protect the brackets from my overbite. That will be lovely... won't be able to chew ANYTHING then.

Here's hoping the pain will be less in the next few days. I decided to go without wax today, to start getting my lips and cheeks used to the abuse.

Wonder how long it will take before a canker sore?

24 hours later...

Sometimes I think I take on too much at a time. This might be one of those times, but then I always make it through somehow.

Hello, I am J.

Four months and a day ago, my boyfriend B proposed. That was also the day I graduated with my BA in Business. As one might imagine, I am in the thick of wedding planning for our June 2012 ceremony.

A day ago, I got braces. Just the uppers for now, lowers are going in next month. I've wanted braces since I was an early teenager, and now finally have the funds to get them. I've got clear brackets on top right now, but will be getting traditional metal (I believe...) on the bottom.

And yes, my teeth hurt. Bad. I was always told how painful braces are, but never realized how TRUE those words were...

This is my journey. Two journeys, really... of the Bride-to-Be in Braces.
